  • Geography - Do focused map studies of the books being read, learn about the world as outlined in Ambleside Online's geography recommendations, and study the Santa Fe Trail in depth through Tree in the Trail.
  • Literature - Enjoy classic books for young children such as The Wind in the Willows, Heidi, Little House in the Big Woods, and Just So Stories and sample fairy tales, stories, and legends.
  • Poetry - Memorize and read poems by feature poets, Edward Lear, Maya Angelou, and Hilda Conkling.
  • Art - Study the work of three artists every week by narrating and remembering their best works.
  • Music - Study compositions by three composers and sing folk songs, patriotic tunes, hymns, and praise and worship music.
  • South Carolina - Know their school yard and neighborhood and read books about South Carolina.
  • Spanish - Sing simple songs, recite parts in plays, have simple conversations, and hear and read children's books in Spanish.
