The Feast 2018-2019

The Feast is on a roll and we are in our second week. We are so thankful for all the volunteers who came on Tuesday and Thursday so that we could do all we had hoped. Our most critical need right now is drivers for the nature walk and the nursing home on Thursdays.

Everything you need to know for being a volunteer will be stored here and updated throughout the year. The first couple of times you come, all you need to do is observe how we do lessons and help the teacher as needed (for example, pass out cups of water for students who are painting). This term's artist is Norman Rockwell and the composer is Henry Purcell. Our handwork is to continue our drawing lessons and clay sculptures. Click the following buttons for information about different elements of The Feast.

Click the "Guide for Volunteers" button to learn more about The Feast.

To learn about Tuesdays, click the "Guide for Next Tuesday" to learn more about The Tuesday Feast. To learn more about our artist, click the "Pictures to Study" and the "Information about Pictures" buttons.

To learn about Thursdays, click the "Guide for Next Thursday" to learn more about The Thursday Feast. To learn more about our composer, click the "Composer Study Playlist" and the "Information about Music" buttons. Click the buttons for Primary and Elementary to see what those classes are reading for citizenship. The buttons after that are phone and tablet apps you may find helpful on nature walks.

Morning Meeting Music

8/5/2018

Every morning students in elementary and below classes gather for a Bible devotion and singing. We learn and sing classic hymns sprinkled with a few modern tunes. We draw from a wide variety of musical styles with the hope that the students will be able to sing a joyful noise in any church setting. We also sing folk songs to bridge the distance to their grandparents and minister to our friends at Lake Marion. Folk songs are written by ordinary people to express their thoughts and feeling about everyday life. Every culture has their own set of folk songs and children have a right to be immersed in the legacy of this lively music.

This year we have set up a playlist on Youtube of the music we are using and we have posted PDFs of the lyrics in case you want to know what your children are singing in the car.
